Hey ya,
due to our kiwi readers I will try to blog in english (maybe in Kiwi-english as I learned heaps of great phrases ;o) ).
Everything here is choice. It is awesome, breathtaking, ... that far we had a trip with a lot of natural sightseeings.
Let's start with at least 36 different types of birds we were able to see. Our friends were used to say: "have a look, on the right side is a royal albatross."
The next most impressing thing was the Okarito brown kiwi we could watch while it was eating. It was so great running through the forest to see were this huge birds were hiding. They are able to run pretty fast, ay. Never imagined that. And you won't need to say: "Get off the grass" We did really see Kiwis what is a rare thing to see. Less than 1% of the New Zealand people did see a kiwi out in the forest.
Next to the kiwi we did see penguins. They are so cute. Walking along the beach ... great.
And than we did see a lot of seelions and seals. They smell ... urg ... and they seem to be kind of aggressive. I guesse I would not like to run away from one as I got too close (even I had to sit next to one due to taking pictures ... tourist, ay?).
And than there was the last impressive natural experience we had. We went out on a vessel to watch whales. They are huge. The vessel did not care about any seasickness (How good that our stepmom was prepared for everything and offered us some pills against seasickness). Alright, while we were going faster and faster we did see some dolphins far away, enjoying there life ;o) . When we did come closer to the first whale I asked one of the crew: "Is that small black point the whale?" He answered: "When we come closer you will see that it is huge!". ... quirk german tourist, I suppose. While we were standing and watching a whale, suddenly that huge fish jumped out of the water, turned around and was gone again. It was only half a meter away and I got wet. We think it was a shark, but we are not sure. Anyway, after the shark the Whale was the most important thing to see. It was impressive, seeing the back of the whale, lying beneath the water, breathing once in a while and sending tons of water into the sky. And than the last breath, a movement and the fluke was coming out of the water, faced into the sky, dripping of water and going back to an other long dive. The whale was gone. And with it some of the fascinating atmosphere, we were allowed to watch. What a blessing, God had given us (and is still giving us).
Okay, I guess from now on we will be touched in a special way, knowing that we had a lot of lifetime experiences - with some old-new friends!
See ya.
